SUSAN F. ROSE, M. D., physician, Meadville,
was born in the city of Philadelphia, September 21, 1845, and is a
daughter of Peter and Eliza A. (Boyer) Rose. Her parents were also natives
of Philadelphia, her father of Welsh and English, her mother of French
descent. Peter Rose, who came with his family to this county about 1857,
was a farmer and lumber dealer. He raised a family of eight children,
Susan F. being the fourth. He died in 1882. Our subject received her
education in the graded schools of her native city, and studied medicine
under Dr. Smith in this county from 1872 to 1875. In 1873-74 she attended
the Womans Medical College at Philadelphia, and graduated at the
Homoeopathic Hospital and College at Cleveland, in the year 1875. She then
commenced the practice of medicine at Townville, in this county, and two
years later came to Meadville, where she has continued practice.
