JOHN D. McCOY, attorney at law, Meadville,
was born in Mercer County, Penn., May 22, 1847, and is a son of Col. P.
C. and Nancy Jane (Nelson) McCoy, who were natives of Pennsylvania and
of Scotch-Irish descent. His father is a prominent lawyer and, with
exceptions of the time spent in the army, has lived in this county since
1854. John D., the eldest of a family of six, received his education in
the academy and at Allegheny College. He studied law with his father,
was admitted to the Crawford County bar in 1873, to the United States
Courts in 1881, and to the Supreme Courts in 1882. The firm is P. C.
McCoy & Son. Our subject is a prominent member of the I. 0.0. F.; is
politically a Republican, but has never held any office.
