FRED H. LICHTENWALNER, one of the citys
leading bankers and financiers, was born in Allentown, Pa., June 27, 1868,
his parents being William C. and Amelia (Fogel) Lichtenwalner. He attended
the public schools until he was fourteen years old. In 1882 he began his
successful career by becoming messenger for the Allentown National Bank.
By reason of the intelligent and faithful discharge of the duties assigned
to him, he was rapidly promoted, filling every position, and serving seven
years as receiving teller. His total service with this institution
numbered twenty-three years. Recognizing his exceptional ability in
conducting banking affairs, and appreciating his fidelity to his
employers, the Citizens Deposit and Trust Company in October, 1905,
selected him as its secretary and treasurer, and recently elected him
president of the institution. He is also a director of the Peoples Trust
Company, of South Bethlehem. Mr. Lichtenwalner during his unusually active
and useful career served as secretary and treasurer of the Mutual Loan and
Building Association for nineteen years, was treasurer for the Lehigh
County almshouse for twelve years, and deputy county treasurer from 1899
to 1904. Be is a Democrat in politics and belongs to the Reformed Church.
On August 23, 1888, Mr. Lichtenwalner married Jennie H., daughter of
Martin and Eliza Seiple, of Allentown.
