Francis L. Banks

FRANCIS L. BANKS, foreman hardening room, Western File Works,
Beaver Falls, was born in New York City, July 19, 1825, and is a son of
Francis and Maria (Burden) Banks, and of English and German descent. He
was reared in New York city, where he learned his trade of file hardener
with Evans, Davidson & Lound, serving an apprenticeship of seven years. He
worked at his trade as a journeyman in different sections of the country
thirty-five years prior to coming to Beaver Falls, where he located in
1869 and began in his present position in the Western File Works. He is a
member of the T. of H., G.T., R.A., and A.O.U.W. He was grand templar,
state of Pennsylvania in 1884. He is a member and one of the vestrymen of
the Episcopal church of Beaver Falls. In politics he is a Republican.
