E. D. Dalton

E. D. DALTON, farmer and stock-raiser, P.O. Corry, was born in
Cloneen, County Kilkenny, Ireland, July 13, 1826; son of Peter and Anna (Durney)
Dalton, the former of whom died in Ireland in 1837, aged fifty-two years,
and the latter in Pennsylvania in 1871, aged seventy-three years. A
brother of our subject died at the age of thirteen. E. D. was educated in
Ireland, and came to America at the age of twenty-four. He was married in
Ireland in 1846 to Ellen Grant, born there January 1, 1819, daughter of
James and Joanna (Grant) Grant, both deceased, the former in 1870 and the
latter in 1853. They were the parents of twelve children, six living. Mr.
and Mrs. E.D. Dalton are the parents of six children— Anna, widow of
Thomas Bates; Joanna, wife of Addison Patterson; Peter (deceased), Stachie,
Mary (deceased), and James, married to Estella Kennedy, of Wayne. Our
subject owns ninety-two and a half acres of land within the city limits.
He makes a specialty of blooded stock. In politics, he is a Republican.
