CHARLES W. KAEPPEL, son of Christopher A. Kaeppel and wife,
Charlotte (Kreilich), was born at Allentown, Pa., on March 18, 1877. After
attending the public schools until thirteen years of age, he was employed
for a year in the store of Haire & Morrissey, then conducted at Sixth and
Hamilton Streets, Allentown, and in the Adelaide Silk Mills. Leaving the
mills, be attended the American Business College, and in the spring of
1893 was employed as stenographer by Hon. James L. Schaadt, then district
attorney for Lehigh County. Shortly thereafter, Mr. Kaeppel was appointed
assistant official stenographer and later official stenographer of the
Northampton County courts by the late Judge Henry W. Scott, an office he
is still filling. After entering the employ of Mr. Schaadt, it was
suggested to him by Mr. Schaadt that he take up law as a profession. The
suggestion met with favor and under the able tutelage of Mr. Schaadt, Mr.
Kaeppel registered as a student at law and on May 20, 1901, was admitted
to the bar. He is a member of many of the social and fraternal
organizations of the city, as well as the Chamber of Commerce. While
attending to the active practice of his profession, in association with
Mr. Schaadt, and to his duties as court stenographer, Mr. Kaeppel finds
time to devote to the development of the city and welfare of the
community.
