A. M. Duster, M. D., who is engaged in the
practice of his profession in the City of Butler, Pennsylvania, was born
here on October 3, 1899, and he is a son of Martin and Christina (Wickenhagen)
Duster.
Martin Duster was born in Germany. His father emigrated to this country
when Martin was six years of age and the family settled in Crystal City,
Missouri. Here Martin Duster learned the glass-making trade, which he
followed during his life, working in DuBois and Butler, Pennsylvania. He
died in 1916 and is buried in North Cemetery, Butler. He was a member of
the Lutheran Church. Mrs. Duster was born in Butler County, Pennsylvania.
To this union three children were born: (1) Elmer Joseph, doctor of
pharmacy, a graduate of Philadelphia College of Pharmacy, now proprietor
of a large drug store in that city; (2) Stella, married Mr. Cavalero,
resides in Butler; and (3) A. M., the subject of this sketch.
The preliminary education of Doctor Duster was
obtained in the public schools of Falls Creek, Pennsylvania, and Butler
High School, class of 1917. He spent two years at the University of
Pittsburgh, and in 1924 he received from Jefferson Medical College the
degree
of Doctor of Medicine. He served his internship in Pittsburgh Hospital,
1924-1925, and on January 1, 1926, he engaged in active general practice
at Butler. During the war Doctor Duster was in the Students Army Training
Corps.
Doctor Duster is a member of the Butler County
Medical Society.
