A. H. S. CANTLIN, vice president and general
manager of the Lehigh Valley Electric Light and Power Company, was born
June 22, 1879, in Philadelphia, a son of William H. and Mary (Fry) Cantlin.
He was educated in the public schools, and in 1899 was graduated from the
University of Pennsylvania with the degree of electrical engineer. His
first employment was with the St. Louis Transit Company. He remained with
this company until 1904, when he became engineer for the E. W. Clark
Company, of Philadelphia. Early in 1908 Mr. Cantlin came to Allentown as
business manager for what was then known as the Allentown Light and Power
Company. When the company was reorganized in 1911 under the name of the
Lehigh Valley Electric Light and Power Company, he was elected vice
president and general manager. Mr. Cantlin is an engineer of national
reputation and his knowledge of the business has been a great factor in
the success of the company which he manages. He is actively interested in
the social, religious and civic life of the community, and besides being a
member of the Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club, is affiliated with
the following organizations: Jordan Lodge of Masons; Elks; Livingston
Club; Bethlehem Club; Lehigh Country Club; Engineers Club, Philadelphia.
On October 11, 1909, he married Estelle D. Wright, daughter of Hon. Robert
E. Wright, of Allentown.
